Las Vegas Sands Sells Bicho Farm Bingo Gaming License

Las Vegas Sands Corp. has agreed to sell its Bicho Farm bingo gaming license in Macau for $1.24 billion to MGM China Holdings Ltd., the companies said Wednesday.

The casino operator will receive cash and an interest in MGM China that it can use to reduce debt, Las Vegas Sands said in a statement. The move also gives MGM access to new markets as it expands its presence in the gambling enclave.

"This transaction allows us to further streamline our business and focus on our core operations in Macau," Sheldon Adelson, chairman and chief executive officer of Las Vegas Sands, said in the statement.

The sale is subject to regulatory approvals and is expected to close by the end of the year, the companies said.

Bicho Farm is one of six casino licenses in Macau and was awarded to Las Vegas Sands in 2002. The company has been looking to sell the license for some time as it focuses on its more lucrative properties in the Chinese territory, according to people familiar with the situation.

MGM China already operates a casino under a sub-license from SJM Holdings Ltd., which owns one of Macau's six gaming licenses and is seen as key to getting regulatory approval for the deal.

Shares of Las Vegas Sands were up 1 percent at $55.89 at 9:42 a.m. ET, while shares of MGM China Holdings were down 0.4 percent at HK$25.30
